12/5/13 Danny Muk
Today I took a look at the Fritz code and looked into the Arduino reference library to further my knowledge and become less confused about writing code on Arduino.
Jordan Hunter-12/5/13
Continued working in MakerWare in an attempt to piece together the potential tentacle we could use if we ever require so. Also learned just how simple and confusing Makerware can simultaneously be. After getting a bit of work done on the tentacle Matt and I began to brainstorm ideas on how to get other parts of the robot functioning

12/3/13 Ish Log
December 3rd, 2013
Today Myself, George, and Karl worked on configuring the Maya to Arduino conversion software. Me and Karl rewrote a large portion of the app, and then had a hit and miss experience in the usability. George helped us have the Arduino software read the actual board. I also configured a joystick to scroll on screen movements and do rotations in Maya. The app I used to configure that is called Joy2Key (http://joytokey.net/en/ [use ad-block]).

After some getting through a few issues concerning constructing the eye. I shifted over to begin working on getting a tentacle moving properly in MakerWare.

Today we printed one eye for a prototype to work on and kinda get a feel of how the eye should work. We also are in the middle of producing a base for the eye to work on. I will also continue to work on how to program on Arduino.

Forgot to blog last time. But not too much has occured since my last post. I'm currently working my way through the book C++ programming for dummies. I'm also watching a video about basic programming for Arduino's.
Matt-11/19/2013
Finished the right base for the eye ball using the PLA.
Started to change the extruder on the Makerbot 2X.
Starting to work on the rest of the parks for the eye ball.

Today I started off with resetting the Replicator 2X so we can get it working again. We got the Replicator 2 working on printing the frame of the right eye we found on thingiverse. (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:178632). We continued to repair the X2. We also are begining to test the 2 to its full capabilities.
Jane's 3D print preferences
Material wise, I believe that PLA is a better material due to its strength and temperature resistance. I like the replicator 2 more then the 2X due to it precision with detail, speed, and dexterity. Carpe Diem I cannot wait to see what we will accomplish with this device. We are currently prototyping.

Today we started to print out a model of half of our animatronic eye and I will continue to work on learning to program on Arduino to the best of my ability. Once we get the model printed out the Robotics team will begin to figure out how to simulate eye movements.
11/14/13-Jordan
I'm still working at the same thing as last time primarily working on getting more comfortable with programming and also learning what the actual meaning behind the code is.
On a secondary note we also got a new member today Noah Francis. He has been working in Maya for a bit so he can be a modeler but he is also working towards learning how to programming

Me and Danny are practicing Arduino primarily for today. we're focusing on the actually meaning of common code commands as of right now.

October 22 Meeting
The First Part of the meeting:
Programmers:
In this meeting Ish was teaching Jordan R. some programming skills.

Karl was working with Matt on the program for the robot's arm. They two ran into a problem where the arm was not moving they they anticipated. But Karl immediately spotted the issue and fixed it.

Second Half of the Meeting : The opening of the 3D printers
The 3D printers arrived and Dan Cornell, George Mitsuoka, and the rest of the animatronics team opened the boxes for the first time. They first printed a dragon with its egg. Although it was not perfect, the team is working to calibrate the printer.

October 8th Meeting
Today was a busy day in the studio. Here's what happened:
Prosthetic:
Kyi was alone today, but she worked very hard on clay models. She made an "ear fin". Pictured below is Kyi and her "ear fin"
Robotics:
Today, two new members joined the robotics part of the animatronic team: Ish and Parker. Matt showed them the basics of programming and the basic arm for the animatronic. Ish and Parker then continued to make a prototype of the arm in Maya.
Kris B., Ariana M., and Dylan D. worked on eyes in Maya.

October 1, 2013 Meeting
Today, The animatronics team were hard at work! Here's a basic summary of what happened.
This week was homecoming and several people were decked out in rock-star clothing today. Due to popular request, pictures of actual team members working were not taken. Photography will resume next week!
Prosthetic Group:
Sophia and Kyi (the two co-leaders) were designing some parts of the monster in clay.
They experimented with the new shipment of clay and made horns for the monster.
Robotic Group:
Matt (the leader) was working on a very cool programmed robotic machine. The machine went through a variety of movements.
Jane, Jordan, and Danny worked on their robots and were making great progress. The made the basic frame for the animatronic.
